Resolutions

I've got three major resolutions this year:

1. Be happy.
2. Enjoy my life (or, stop waiting for the future to come and love the present).
3. Reach my goal weight of 125 lbs. (120 wouldn't be too bad, either.)

Resolution #1 is a primary reason for me starting this new blog. I made a resolution when I started it that it wouldn't be bogged down by my pessimistic rants. Instead, I wanted to use this as a tool to brighten my outlook on life. And so, even when bad things happen, this blog is here to help me find a twist of humor, to look on the bright side, and squirt some lemonade in someone's eye.

Sunny side up, everyone!

Bring it, 2012! I'm going to enjoy this year!

Hugo

Tomorrow I'm going to see Hugo!

I had the choice to see a variety of movies (including Sherlock Holmes 2, but I'm not that big of a fan. Not after BBC's Sherlock). And I'm a huge fan of Asa Butterfield. And Ben Kingsley . And this magical story in general. I should read the book after this.

Sick

Today I am sick. So what do I do? I draw all day. And fold laundry. But mostly draw.

Compulsion

Can someone be OCD about...not sleeping?

Seriously, I come home and expect to be a big sleeper. But I'm not. I don't know if it's the time difference (home is two hours ahead of college) or if it was the streak of all-nighters I pulled during finals week, but I can't justify myself going to bed before at least 3 or 4 AM.

That's late, folks.

I know I promised Fitz some quality time, but there has to be a reasonable balance. Right?

To all you Fitz-lovers out there: stop encouraging the dang bird, and give me tips on how to get to sleep instead!

Ruby Slippers

There's no place like home.
There's no place like home.
There's no place like home.

My New (Metaphoric) Crack

Can you believe that I'd never heard Les Miserables before?

A travesty, right?

While procrastinating homework on Saturday I came upon someone who had uploaded the 25th Anniversary Concert of Les Miserables (yeah, the one with Nick Jonas) onto YouTube. Curious, I listened.

I'm addicted. Les Miserables is my new crack. You know, metaphorically.

In Which Fitz Has Reigned Victorious

Last night I tried to go to bed at 2am. I couldn't fall asleep. I tossed. I turned. All I got was this pecking on my head when Fitz said "You've only averaged three hours of sleep each night this week. You can't break your streak now! Don't be a quitter!"

And so two hours later he finally left me alone to sleep.

Mothers

When I'm away from home for too long, my mother doesn't seem to be a tangible being anymore.

More like a figment of my imagination.

And then she calls and becomes the voice in my head.

Internet Tom-Foolery

I feel like for every sentence I write of my essays, I end up spending at least ten minutes engaging in internet tom-foolery.

Maybe I should invest in a taskmaster. Or maybe just some initiative.

Ecological Criticism

Is it just a literary theory for tree-huggers?

Why isn't there a Vegan literary theory?

Stamina

My stamina...it's starting to lack.

So what's the plan?

Cook me some rice
          Listen to Pride&Prejudice while
                     Writing my essay.

I'm fairly excited for finals to be over.

Fitz is, too.

My Kind of Therapy

I really love moving furniture. That and vacuuming. It always warms me up and calms me down.

Now if only I could convince Fitz to dry the dishes for me.
